Industry Compensation Trends
Findings from CTHRA's 2014 Compensation Surveys

In today’s world, consumers have an ever-growing variety of options for viewing sports, news and entertainment programs thanks to the proliferation of online and mobile applications and the entrance of new content developers. Yet, while the number of competitors is on the rise, the talent needed to drive the latest technologies and digital content is extremely limited. As a result, CTHRA’s 2014 Compensation Surveys determined that the law of supply and demand is dominating compensation in our industry as salaries for technology and digital media positions rose well above the national average in 2014. Talent Management Trends in 2015

Dynamic forces are impacting the U.S. and global labor market. In November, the U.S. economy added 321,000 jobs, marking the best monthly jobs growth in nearly three years. Even recent job trends posted by Indeed.com showed year-over-year growth in every major sector with a 9% increase in media jobs. What’s this mean in terms of talent management? CTHRA Celebrates 3,000 Member Milestone

During the last few months, CTHRA nearly doubled its membership, growing from 1,600 members to more than 3,000. Our membership includes HR professionals from 50 companies, spanning the cable operator and broadcast/programming sectors. CTHRA Announces Slate for Board of Directors

This month, members received an electronic ballot to renew the terms of two of CTHRA’s board members: Lisa Kaye, President and CEO of greenlightjobs, and NJ Pesci, EVP of HR for Scripps Networks Interactive. In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Moore, Vice President of Telephony for Charter Communications. Kevin was a valuable member of the Advisory Task Force on Veteran Talent in the Media Industry, which CTHRA announced in April 2014. He will be dearly missed.

2015 Wonder Women Earlier this month, Multichannel News in conjunction with WICT NY announced the 2015 Class of Wonder Women for our industry. We were thrilled to see one of CTHRA’s members among the honorees: Sandra Kapell, EVP of HR and Administration for Cablevision Systems. Congratulations, Sandra! At the end of December, CTHRA will bid farewell to two dedicated board members: Joanne O’Brien (pictured on left), SVP of HR for NBC News/NBCU and Paul Richardson (pictured on right), SVP of HR for ESPN Inc. & Chief Diversity Officer for The Walt Disney Company. During their service, both individuals made significant contributions to CTHRA. We deeply appreciate the time they dedicated to our organization!
