2002, CTHRA's Annual Compensation Surveys have provided the cable
and satellite industry with timely, industry-specific compensation
benchmarks and analysis. In 2016, 59 participants (14 MSOs and 45
programmers) participated in the surveys. Participants represented
the majority of the industry's employers, including eight of the
nine largest MSO's, one satellite delivery company, the top national
cable networks, broadcast networks and new digital content providers.
The survey results are industry-specific, providing an in-depth
analysis of pay practices for more than 150,000 incumbents, including
both exempt and nonexempt positions ranging from technicians to
Croner Company, a leading compensation consulting firm specializing
in compensation plan design, compensation surveys and organizational
design, develops the surveys and collects and analyzes the data,
separating results into two participant categories: MSOs (cable
and satellite) and programmers (cable programmers, broadcast networks,
digital and other media companies). Given the highly confidential
survey data, the results from any given company cannot be seen.
Only summary information pertaining to all participants is available.
This reporting approach complies with Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
regulation and encourages participation without fear of exposing
proprietary information to the public.
